When it comes to teaching in the digital age, my students have more knowledge about it because they use it more than I do.  I guess I would be considered a digital immigrant because I have learned how to use technology just to be successful in today’s world.  Since students are using different types of technology, why not let them use it in the classroom so that learning will be fun and to keep them engaged in learning.
After watching, “Vision of Students Today”, I wasn’t shocked with the statistics written on paper by the students.  As a teacher, I see and watch students get on Facebook, Twitter, send/receive text or check e-mails on a daily basis.  They know how to do all this without getting caught by the teachers.  We do live in a world where learning has been built around technology.  We, as teachers, need to teach students the right way to use the technology.  Students need to show ownership of what they find and read as to the accuracy of the information.  With that in mind, both articles and the other learning video gave me tips on how to turn my classroom into the 21st Century Classroom. I need to use these ideas so that my students will not learn the way I did when I went to school.  To wrap the articles and videos into two words, students need to be involved in a “learning community”.  Today students need to collaborate with other students, access key information so that they will be able to interpret it correctly, and be effective in communication.  If we do this, teachers will need to change how and what they teach.  Change is the biggest problem for some, but we are working with our future.  We have to make the change if we want student growth.
