Problem number one with trying to be technologically awesome is that I didn't know the difference between a Mac and a PC until last year, which I think can help all of you understand how well I know my way around listservs, blogs, and social networking sites. The biggest struggle for me throughout this process has not been learning how to use so many new devices and resources but rather realizing that AT is much more than I ever had imagined it could be. IDEA defines AT as any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of a child with a disability. So AT devices can range from a Dynavox to a swimming noodle, as my professor always says.
So far I have greatly enjoyed familiarizing myself with such things as my new up and coming twitter account (tweet me @AlexandraWazny), list servs, my very own blog, and many others blogs. I am excited to find that as I continue googling and researching many of the things I believed I never could do are becoming easier and easier for me to understand. Today I begin my explorations of classroom 2.0 and all it has to offer me as an up and coming tech savy wiz!
