Using cues, questions, and advance organizers

I am a teacher at a middle school. This is my second year of teaching a class of 8th grade struggling readers. I realize that I will probably be their last reading teacher. They will be on their own next year in high school. I am wanting to learn as much as possible about using cues, questions, and advance organizers so I can be as effective as possible for these students. All are bright, very capable students, just somewhere along the way reading became an impossibility for them. Does anyone have any successfully tried and tested information about this strategy?
