The wiki's went better today. Started the class out with a group brainstorm:

what do we know about handwriting analysis?
Why is it important in forensics?
Who are the people that do handwriting analysis?
Can we find some case studies where handwriting analysis helped to solve crimes?

We then delegated who wanted to post to the wiki about which topic. As they posted I checked each page and gave feedback about each student's wiki post (check spelling, put this into your own words, link to this rather than copy paste, etc). This feedback seemed to really help most of the students see where the wiki could take them. A couple students, however, still did the bare minimum and then did their own internet searching and music listening. I was frustrated with them, but really happy with the students that put effort into the wiki.

We are going to do one more day "discovering" how to make a useful wiki before we move into another topic of forensics: document analysis. Tomorrow I would really like the students to try to make their page(s) reader friendly, find some good pictures, and be sure everything is sited! I would also like to see some of the students add a voice thread to the wiki site, possibly using vocaroo.com .

I know this is a process....after two days I am starting to see progress. Yay!
