Hi Wes,
We'd love to have you join the PBL~Better with Practice group in CR20
(www.classroom20.com/group/pblbetterwithpractice).
First live conversation/webinar is this Thursday in Elluminate, with a couple expert teachers joining us to talk about building a culture of inquiry. Should be fun!

I made a comment on one of your blog post and you replied that you might be interested in a “document camera on a shoestring solution." There is a post on Classroom 2.0 that says the $20 "Hue HD Webcam" functions as a document camera. I guess you wanted to project your iPhone on a screen at presentations. Thanks for all have learned from your blog (and friend Guhlin's blog) over the years.

I see a lot of people seeking document cameras. A DIY solution might be made with a tripod and a good webcam. Has anyone heard about anyone trying to use a two or three megapixel webcam for this purpose. Mounting a webcam under a tripod might also work to hold the webcam. (For an adjustable base, one could use a flexible microscope light stand to hold the webcam if they found a tall one.) Some digital cameras also have a “webcam” function. These might also work if the megapixels of the webcam feature is high enough.

I would like to construct that type of “document camera on a shoestring” solution to use in workshops, Jim– I have needed to show my iPhone screen during presentations and wanted a document camera when one was not available at times… I forgot that some digital cameras have a webcam function and could be used in this way. You’ve got me thinking…. I certainly think it’s worth exploring… One of the problems with buying a document camera is that it might tend to be used exclusively by the teacher– a camera in the hands of students could be used more creatively (hopefully in good ways)– I’m going to do some experimenting on this and will report back.
Hi Wesley! Thanks for the XO podcast with Colin. I linked to it on the Reinventing blog. http://reinventingpbl.blogspot.com/2007/12/xo-is-here.html
I started an XO group in Clrm 2.0, check us out and encourage Colin to join if you would!
Oh, and the book is out and you're in it! More about that on the blog... best, Jane
Wanted to add a quick note of thanks. Thank you for putting out your blog and podcast, more than one episode has tipped me off to new and exciting learning.
thanks for your time today on Skype... the kids weren't sure what was cooler... my new SmartBoard or that we called someone in China during class... thanks again!
Thanks for the tips on the vConvert...wow, pretty neat stuff...good for teachers in the SE portions of Kansas who have Youtube blocked in their schools. I follow your updates and enjoy listening. Thanks for all you do for educators.
Hi Wes, Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment on the blog. I read you link and a few of the other links from the comments. Would like to further the discussion on using technology.
