This would be wonderful, perhaps, we could work on a project to incorporate in the Spring. We go back to school August 25th. If Spring works well for you,we could discuss where you will be in your curriculum and where I am and come up with a project that will be beneficial for both our classes. I am interested in pursuing this further. Thank You,
Mindy

Hi Vincent
My name’s David and I’m a history teacher in Queensland, Australia. I use a lot of podcasting and online tools with my classes and am always looking for new ideas.
I host a group on diigo (it’s similar to delicious and very popular with teachers) for history teachers to share links, ideas and resources. It’s at http://groups.diigo.com/groups/history-teachers.
Please come along and join and share any sources or resources you use with the rest of us. See you there.
Regards,
David Hilton

Hi Vincent, I will have to figure out how to join your Ning site. The official photo of the Vendee Globe competitors is at this link: http://www.vendeeglobe.org/en/news/5598/The-thirty-2008-2009-Vendee-Globe-skippers-present-in-Paris.html
Maybe they would have the photo in the newspaper in Paris as well?

Hmmm...I've never tried this before. I look at the map and try to figure out where it is? It's a zoomed in area of France? Do I zoom in on a map of France and try to find an area that looks like this one? Thanks for introducing me to new websites.

Yes, this is great! Thanks for setting the page up! If you look at this link you will see the webpages for all of the competitors (also on the Vendee Globe site as you mentioned)

Hi Vincent, Thanks for your note. It would be fun for my students to learn more about France and the Vendee Globe through interaction with your students. I cannot use a Ning (students are under 13) or a blog (school policy) however we can discuss ways that the students can share. For example, for an introduction, we could make a voicethread tour of our school and we'd be happy to see one of yours'. My students could do a short simple powerpoint or slideshow about Rich and your student could share about one of your Vendee Globe competitors. I have to keep all of my projects very short, simple and sometimes broad since I see the students only one time a week for 40 minutes . If you look at this link (near the bottom, you can see a link to all of the Vendee Globe competitors http://earth.edublogs.org/ email address is lleo@jacksonschool.org

Hi Vincent--We just got our video cameras and have mapped out our story boards. Next step is setting up a sharing site, prepping for the Colonial History fair, and picking students. I'm also taking a class and preparing for my trip to Brussels, Paris, and London this summer, as well as typical family duties. Whew! I'm looking forward to that plane trip across the ocean!

Hi Vincent--I'm going to be taking the train from Brussels to London and will be stopping in Paris for about five hours and try to see some parts of Paris. Do you have any suggestions for non-French speaking folks about what to do or see? I hear (you know rumors) English is unwelcome--French only; others say you can find English speaking folks; don't take cabs--walk, etc. Ideas are welcome!

Hi Vincent,
If you are still interested in collaboration with French speaking class, please send me your email. The French language inspector has expressed interest.
