Project Proposal

Ariella Epstein

April 20, 2009

I am planning to create a WebQuest for use in a seventh grade Social Studies class for my Design Project. The topic of the WebQuest will be a comparison of direct and representative democracy using example from ancient Athens, the Roman Republic and the United States. My vision for this project is that it will be carried out in a classroom of about 20 students of varying abilities with access to five classroom computers.… Continue

After speaking with Dr. Shutkin I have decided to do my Design Project in the form of a WebQuest. I envision presenting this WebQuest to a classroom of 20 seventh grade Social Studies students, who have 5 classroom computers available to them. I have only been able to ask one parent and one student what they would be looking for if I were to create a website for the students I tutor. The student, who was not feeling well, simply said, "I don't know". Even if she were feeling well, I'm not sure she would have given me much more input. Her mother, on the other hand gave me LOTS of input. To begin with, she told me that she would like to see pictures and tidbits about the other students I tutor. She said it would be interesting to see… Continue

Web 2.0 Apps?

The questions we are supposed to be answering are posed to us as though we are all teachers with classrooms full of students with similar assignments and needs (maybe not really needs, but for my purposes, just go with it). However, I am not yet a teacher with a classroom of my own, and therefore do not have classes in which students could be collaborating with one another on assignments I give, or anything of the like really. Instead I am a tutor to six individual students in different schools… Continue

Hello,

I look forward to being in class and learning and listening about your thoughts and the classroom's thoughts on technology.
