Ian comes from a modest upbringing in Scotland. He was first inspired to be a chef where he nurtured his intrinsic and creative talents. Competing for Canada, he attained fifty-nine gold medals internationally, including the World Culinary Olympics, one of the world’s most prestigious culinary medals.
He began teaching Culinary Arts and completed his under-grad Bachelor of Education in 1992 at the University of Alberta. He achieved his Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario in 1996. Since then Ian has taught various disciplines within several educational institutions in Calgary.
Throughout his life, photography has been his passion. He continues to challenge the light to attain the most innovative photos in culinary displays, portraits, weddings, scenery and commercial creative works for the hospitality industry in Canada. Ian’s truly rewarding moments are when he is shooting photos of his grandchild, "Mina" weddings, culinary events and attending professional photographer’s workshops. Ian is also the Communications Director (volunteer) for The Calgary Highland Games held every September in Calgary, a member of the Professional Photographers of Canada, PPOC. HI Ian -- I am the organiser behind a Classroom 2.0 group called Canadians Mashup. I'd like to invite you to join us at --> http://www.classroom20.com/group/canadianmashup. Under the tabs, you'll see a BIG GREEN PLUS SIGN, and a link to Join Canadians Mashup. One of the forums near the top is about Introductions and you can say 'hi' to everyone there. Apparently messages on the Comment Wall are going everywhere, so we're asking people to use the forums instead. If you want to reach me, please use the email link or go to the Comment Wall on my personal page. Hope to see the Canadian map icon on your group list soon. -- SueH
