Hello, my name is Irving Ross Snead Jr. My friends call me Ross. I live in Floyd, Va. with my wife Pam and our two children. My daughter Nicole is 20 and currently a Senior at Jefferson College of Health Sciences. My son Jonathon is 17 and currently a Senior at Floyd County High School. My wife Pam operates her own mortgage company, Embrace Home Loans located in Blacksburg, Va.
I have lived in Floyd my whole life and graduated from Floyd County High School in 1980. After graduation I worked in the family construction business and in 1985 opened by own company called Snead’s Contracting Inc.
As my children became older and started participating in sports I started coaching. I have coached youth sports for the past twenty years at various levels. The last ten years I have coached basketball and tennis at Floyd County High School. Working with youth in sports is the main reason, with the support of my family, I decided to pursue a second career as a teacher. I really enjoy working with the kids.
I graduated from New River Community College in the Spring of 2011 with an Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree. I transferred to Radford University in the fall of 2012 and entered the education program majoring in social science. I hope to graduate in the Spring of 2013 and secure a job teaching at the high school level. I also plan to continue coaching basketball and tennis.
