About Me
I started teaching in 1977 and have had the same position in school for 32 years. I realised this past year that I was falling further behind in the web 2.0 queue and decided to bulk up my skills. Teaching science and math to 5th and 6th graders, I've tried to reinvent my instructional approach. After all this time in school, it's still the best job I can imagine having, and, although teaching kids is more challenging than ever, still feel energised to bring new ideas and learning opportunities to class every day.
On a personal level, I enjoy coaching and playing soccer, kayak, garden and do carpentry. I also like to make model aeroplanes and ships, collect fossils and mineral samples, and occasionally turn a telescope skyward.
I have three grown children (two are educators) a wife and a dog (who really calls the shots.) We live on an island in Lake Champlain.

Hey there. A friend sent this link along. Its dry looking but I've already found it superior to other drill sites I've looked at. Very coach friendly. http://www.ucs.mun.ca/~dgraham/manual/Pages/main.html

You need to change your avatar. Only Luddites leave the general avatar. :) Many of my techie friends are impressed that a 30+ teacher is spending so much time becoming 21 Century. Keeps us "young" teachers on our toes. Can you still be young after 10 years in the biz?

I'm pretty sure that Madeline woman is basically an advertisement. I've found that its taking me a while to get into Classroom 2.0 but mostly because I don't know people here. Facebook is easier to get into because there's already people there you can talk to. I talked to the science teacher and he said the best thing to do is join groups and get involved in conversations there. It will take a little time to get over that initial creepy feeling but its worth it. Join some groups and you may find things to talk about. I'm sitting on the couch under my electric blanket enjoying my snow day. Be careful driving home!
