Although I am an ancient 4th grade language arts teacher, I'm desperately trying to "get with the program" by attempting to master and implement Web 2.0. I'm slightly overwhelmed but determined!

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!
That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.
Do you mind telling students and your colleagues again?
Thanks for the quick reply! I can't email you on CR2.0 til we've become colleagues, so I've posted a message you can forward to your colleagues below:
Hello! I am contacting you on behalf of MIT university. We are running a nationwide contest in which students compete to produce fun, creative videos teaching SAT/ACT vocabulary. We're looking for short 1-2 minute videos. To see an example, check out our contest website @ http://www.BrainyFlix.com.
After the video submission period has ended on March 16th, we'll allow viewers to vote on the videos and award $600 in prize money to the video that receives the most number of votes. $200 of the prize will go directly to the winner(s) and $400 to the class or school club chosen by that person(s). To further encourage participation, we'll give away 1 free iTunes song for every 5 videos a contestant submits or refers (up to the first 1,000 video submissions).
Participating is easy! Go to BrainyFlix.com and:
- Read over the Contest Rules and check out some sample vocab videos
- Pick a word from our list of commonly used vocabulary on the SAT/ACT
- Film a video about that word & upload it to YouTube.com (or if not then SchoolTube.com)
- Submit your video!
Please tell your friends, students and teachers about this charity event! The more videos we receive, the more good we can do. :) Attached to this email is a flyer that can be printed out and distributed.
If you have any outstanding questions that have not been answered at the website or in this email, please feel free to contact me directly at jack.yu.is@gmail.com.
Happy New Year! I was wondering if you have any 2ndary education contacts who would be interested in participating in a nationwide Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from Florida!
You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
I just saw you on the recent members page and noticed you are also in Ft. Lauderdale. Do you work for BCPS? I am going to be teaching 5th grade this school year, maybe we can collaborate on something:)
