I am a recent graduate of the Emporia State University SLIM program with my MLS; currently employed as the Media Specialist (and possibly the Educational Technology Librarian in the very near future) at the UC Denver, Health Sciences Library, AMC. This is my first semester in the IDT program. I have 20 years of library experience mostly in education and technology roles. Besides starting this program I am teaching for the ESU SLIM program Cohort X, LI813 Print & Electronic Information Sources and Services.
You can see my Ning Profile here: http://www.ning.com/rhondaaltonen
I have been using Ning for the last 2 years, I created a Network for our SLIM Cohort 9
From the course over view, my goals for this course are to become familiar with "addressing learning needs, fostering an interactive learning environment, the impact of technology on distance education programs, and evaluating the quality distance teaching and education."
Our library has created a "15 Things" program that we are testing with the College of Nursing in the hopes of having a base program that can then be adapted for other schools on campus (Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Public Health). we are about 1/2 way through the program and it has been an interesting learning experience for myself.
On a personal note, I enjoy scrapping, card making and other paper crafts. I love my 4 TFT's - Bandit, Mandi, Sallie and Billy (Toy Fox Terriers), and we just had puppies! Two girls!
