Hello my name is Rob. I coordinate and teach an entry level 2 year Primary Care Paramedic program and a post-diploma Advanced Care Paramedic program at a community college in Ontario, Canada. I am a paramedic by profession and have been teaching on an off during my entire 25 year paramedic career. When it comes to technology and am sensitive to the notion that pedagogy must drive technology and inspired by the posibilities technology offers.
Here are some of my current techology related projects:
- I have been creating Podcasts and enhanced Podcasts since 2005 (using audacity for audio recordings and Adobe Presenter and Elluminate for enhanced Podcasts. Last year I started giving nmy students audio assignments where they record medical reports based on a pre-determined sequence of information and a rubric.
- I have been using Elluminate for synchonous online learning since 2008.
- I started creating Wiki assignments this year for two of my classes
- Our students use PDAs to track their hospital and field competencies.
