Happy New Year! I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a nationwide Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from NJ!
You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
Things are really good here. I love the work, but I'm so swamped this first semester -- you know, every little thing is new and a bit overwhelming.
I have freshmen who are at-risk academically (EDR100: College Reading), juniors doing their first field experience (EDR312: Reading instruction and practicum), and masters level reading students (EDR516: Problems in Literacy Development). Next semester I will keep 2 of those and take on 1 new course. Then, beginning this summer and into next year, I'll have just the 312 and two masters level courses. It's challenging, but I'm loving it.
The I'm loving it part is especially true when I visit the old website and see pictures of our (pardon me, your) new administrators. But I remember what you said: They will not win.
So have you had time to meet with the small professional learning group you were forming last year, or is it too soon for that?
And how is Heather?
Thank you sooooooo much for keeping in touch. I don't deserve it because I'm a terrible communicator; nonetheless, I appreciate it.
Carol
I'll have to catch up on the "nightmare" news. Last I heard, the district had hired two female VP's. I wondered about a certain male.
You'll be fine because, remember: they cannot get you down; they cannot win. I believe your small professional learning group can do great things, and I hope you'll consider including Ciccotta and Quinn. They are both outstanding.
I'll be in touch.
Carol
