I have used the Smarttech Sympodiums but I prefer the Smartboards because of the touch. Our new elementary schools are opening with a Smartboard for almost all of the teachers. Therefore, I am working with universities to instruct the education departments to buy a Smartboard and require the students to make a Smartboard Notebook lesson (instead of a PowerPoint). This way the students are familiar with the software by the time they are applying for jobs.

Here are 2 good Smartboard Resources:

1. SOL Technology Integration Web page with over 1000 resources organized by SOL for K-12. http://www.rockingham.k12.va.us/resources/soltechintegration.htm
Especially under elementary (K-5), I have a Smartboard Notebook file posted for 95% of the SOLS for Social Studies and Science.

2. Here is a MAC SMARTBoard ning if you need any troubleshooting hints, tips, or a Notebook 10 training file for Longwood. http://smartboardrevolution.ning.com/group/smartmacusers

hi tim! I saw your comment about setting up the interactive board using the Wii remote. I have a Wii remote, but what else do I have to buy to put inside the pen? I want to try it, thanks!

Hi, Tim,

I've just watched Changing Ed TV and can't wait for the next program! Great resource and terrific presenter! An interesting topic for future programs might be "Web 2.0 Tools: Making Good Decisions." Educators need all the informed opinions we can get as we make decisions about embedding tools in instruction. Thank you for sharing your expertise!

Hello Tim, I am glad that you have joined this classroom. We work with video casting quite a bit as well and used it to collaborate with schools in Canada and USA. Time zones are always an issue though.

The ITMA program at Virginia Tech is an excellent program. I enjoyed it but I am glad I now have my masters in Instructional Technology.

My inlaws live in Powhatan, VA so I get down your way every couple months.
