I taught science in middle and high schools for 20 years, then returned to graduate school and earned a PhD in reading education at the University of Georgia. I teach disciplinary literacy classes for middle and high school pre-service teachers and direct a Center of Excellence for Adolescent Literacy and Learning.

If you watch Nellie's public session it is essentially an online class for the purposes of professional development. The class is about integrating technology using Moodle. But you could of course have professional development in areas that meet your needs.
With your interest in Technology and Web 2.0 tools, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
Here’s a Public Class on Technology Integration you might be interested in given by Nellie Deutsch.
