About Me
I have been a teacher of since 2002 and I have a background in Business and IT development.

I was born in Germany to British and South african parents and grew up speaking German and English. This was useful when we moved back to London when I was 5.

After school, I started working in the city of London for a stockbrokers processing the settlemnet of share trading and takeovers. I was also responsible for booting up and backing up the mainframe. I then worked as a Life Insurance underwriter and team leader, which is where I first came into contact with systems analysts and developers when they remodelled our work and put in a new system.

As I became more interested in systems development, I left work and went to University in Bristol to study a degree in Modern Languages and Information Systems. 3 years later having improved my German, Spanish skills, I went to work for a software house using the Analysis and development skills I had focused on at Uni.

They sent me to work in Madrid for 6 months (I know; tough break) and for several years I worked as an Oracle Analyst Consultant working with various clients in Prague and other European cities, as well as running a 2 week training course in Toronto. I moved to London and worked for a French bank installing Oracle based systems in Money Market dealing rooms (mainly in Eastern Europe). Before going to work for another software house specialising in Insurance software.

After a year of working for BUPA in a very intersting job; defining data strategy for their hospital systems, a new chapter. I moved back to Bristol with the future mother of my son. Here I worked for another software house as an Oracle Analyst Programmer on project planning software for the Mobile phone industry. Again, I was roped into client consulting and once ran a 3 day training workshop in Dusseldorf in German as part of the sales process. I then had a carear break and we went travelling around South America.
