Karen,

Nicely produced and sharp! But I really think that voicethread would be the better application to try for this. Why? Well, it is important that learners not only hear and make text connections but also, hear their own voice afterwards. Recording would do this. There is a lot of research that shows that learners who can actually get feedback about their own reading in the form of listening to themselves....are significantly empowered as readers and develop quicker.

You might want to investigate the karaoke editor for this too. See EFL Classroom 2.0 for many but also our youtube channel......

Hi Karen

Sorry I'm not an early literacy teacher. Just a teacher who is creating instructional video.

It's probably out of budget but I think using the real life things would make the use of video more compelling.

I liked the music, timing and finger pointing.

Well done!

I am working on creating some sight word videos from the word lists at FreeReading. (If you haven't seen this site, it is a phenomenal resources for early literacy.)

Before I crank out more of these, I'm looking for input from early literacy teachers.
  • How is the music? Too distracting or ok?
  • How is the timing?
  • Does the "pointing finger" idea work?
Any input you have is appreciated. I'm hoping to produce a whole library of these to match the FreeReading lists over the next few months.
