Bull-races are often held in villages in the countryside, and we were fortunate to go to one in the outskirts of Islamabad. There are no bleachers, spectators usually stand on the side or on top of trucks and other vehicles. There's always the danger that runaway bulls will veer off course and run into the crowd and vehicles. The riders just stand on a basket, steering the bull with a long stick with one hand while holding on to ropes with the other.
