Aloha. I'm Paul, currently a substitute teacher who's planning on becoming a high school English teacher in Hawaii's mediocre public school system. I'd love to learn more about how I could use Classroom 2.0 in the classroom setting, as well as to interact with other teachers throughout the world. Cheers to the future.
Welcome to Classroom 2.0 Paul. I teach in Southern CA (near San Diego), and my boyfriend's brother lives in Hilo. Hawaii has a lot of things going for it, but I've always heard the public school system is a little "different than on the mainland. Hopefully you'll be able to use what you learn here to make an impact. I think that's most of us are here for. Enjoy!
I teach 8th grade social studies in New York State. I am interested in using Web 2.0 technology to give my students more control of their learning - essentially to develop a more student centered classroom.
Welcome aboard, there have been several good discussions here about the teaching of Social Studies. There is one going on now about teaching slavery. My comment is always to use the primary sources that are available online, in my opinion, one of the neatest things about the Internet. It's what brings history to life--I've got a blog you might enjoy on using primary sources in the classroom--A Very Old Place
Wow, another great blog by you! I am really a super fan and love everything you do Nancy Bosch. ;)
Aren't you nice! I'm envious of your life, let me know when we can come and visit. N
Grin. Anytime!
Thanks Nancy! it is great to see such an active forum of excited professionals!
Welcome fellow New Yorker! I teach Global 9 and US History in New York as well. You can see more about me on my page here as well as my site and Blog. You are welcome to use any of my work. I have podcasts which my juniors use for review for their tests and the regents in the Subjects sections of the Maze.

Great to have a neighbor join the group. I have learned amazing amount here!

Sue
Likewise - Is there a way of knowing or finding out if there are any other New York teachers out there in this forum?
You might try to search for "New York" and see what happens.
Hi, Alessandro Allegri here, from Italy, maths&physics high school teacher. New to Web 2.0, curious and glad to be here. :-)
