Hello. This last weekend I presented a workshop at a world languages conference on the web 2.0. I am new to it myself, but I feel that wl teachers need to get up to date on the new tools. Our field has TONS to benefit from getting the world into our classrooms.
It was hard to write this presentation, and I would like to get your feedback on it (see attached; btw, it is a word document with all the links spelled out because this was a physical handout).
A few questions you may want to focus on: Do you agree with the "description" that I wrote about the web 2.0? What about the action plan? What other tools would you suggest to add? Remember that the goal here is to learn other languages and utilize authentic content from other cultures (that means, all written or spoken in that language). Our target are young children. The youngest ones do not know how to read and write, and we could use tools to introduce early literacy in other languages.
I am excited about sharing this with you. I think this is going to be a great learning experience for me and for other wl educators. [BTW, "world languages" is the term preferred nowadays as opposed to foreign languages, as the moment we start speaking a language it is no longer foreign to us.]
Also, I wouldn't mind to have a mentor along the way... I'll be happy to reciprocate with some Spanish.
Thanks, and I look forward to reading your comments.
