MAY 2009 UPDATE: My fourth graders are going to be studying the states soon and will be doing research on one of them. As part of their research I'd like them to interview someone, hopefully in grades 3-6, about what it's like to live in that state and what they like best about living there. I'm hoping to conduct the interviews via video chat - with Skype or iChat.

If you are interested in helping us out, please visit the project wiki - http://hmstateproject.wikispaces.com

If you participated last year and want to help again, please update your info and use red text color. This way, I know who is interested in this year. The wiki still has the participants from last year.

Thanks!!

Will do - thanks!
I tried to put my skype name on your wikispace but was not able to. My skype name is mrs.willard. My state is Kansas.

Thanks RoJene Willard
Got it, thanks!
Chad, I don't have Skype but I do have iChat. I've never used iChat at school, so not sure if I have a firewall or what not to prevent Nebraska from participating. Let me know what you need. Barb
The wiki is up - fill in your information if you are interested in participating.

Chad, I don't know just yet if it will be a 4th or 5th grade class, but we'll be on your list if you'll have us. I'm also unsure of HOW it will be done since Skype/iChat is generally blocked by our district. (I've got a plea in the works already for a onetime exception.) If nothing else, we can do an email system, but I'd really like to use something realtime.

We are in Palmer, Alaska.

Bob, that is great. I'll add you to the list. Keep me posted if you get Skype/iChat access.
Chad, The district let me setup a SKYPE account! We'll be able to use this for the project. We'll need to work out details....notably.... we are in a different timezone. I believe 3 hr. difference, but we can work it out.
Will your interviewer want to see/talk to an entire class, several students, or just one?
Will the interview be recorded? (I need to look at parental permissions for publishing.)

Any other ideas/questions/ issues?
Bob, that's great news. I'm thinking our student can ask questions to a small group of your students. The interview will not be recorded, just a quick little Q and A session. Let me know what your Skype name is. I'll touch base with you in the next week or 2 with some possible dates and times.
Chad,

It might be helpful and more useful for your kids if they could give a list of possible questions.
email me with thoughts/questions.
I'm in Ohio, and I teach fourth grade. I have several tech savvy students, and have the ability to chat on Skype about the Buckeye State.
John,

That's great. If you can, add a row in the wiki below and fill in your information. Otherwise, please leave me email, skype name, and your full name so I can add you to my list.
