I was wondering if anyone had any good sites for jazz chants, preferably with maybe some podcasts or recordings of some actual chants. I read a really nice article in New Routes about Carolyn Graham's work with this and thought it might be great to try with my younger students. I'm curious to hear how other people have gotten on with this too and if people have used with adult groups with any success :-D

Oh New Routes is available in Brasil by going to the Disal website and registering there. I don't know if it's available anywhere else in the world. If you live in Brasil I'd recommend signing up as the magazine is free four times a year :-)

John,

I've bought and used Jazz chants countless times over the years. I especially like Small talk because of the language and that it is suitable for "pair chant" which simulates conversation.

Go to my youtube language learning video channel and see one video I made of Jazz chants to promote it on EFL Classroom 2.0.

Cheers,

David
