We have recently finished a 30-day trial of customtyping.com and have been very impressed with it. The reporting features are amazing and I can assign homework to my students (grades 4-8) and have them practice keyboarding skills between weekly Computer Lab classes. We plan to launch it for all grades 3-8 this Fall. It is not free, but I feel it is quite reasonably priced.

I actually checked out the pricing on this one. I just thought it was too much money. I am one of those guys who like for everything to be free;-)

There as a GIANT discussion a year ago here at Classroom 2.0 on the merits (or not) of teaching keyboarding. You might find some other program ideas there.

Furthermore, there are exercises and lessons at http://www.ratatype.com/#typing-tutor (after logging in) for students where you can track their performance (speed and accuracy).
