My co-teacher is working with a small group to do virtual tours on Google Earth. We've been able to overcome little issues like how to put an image, URL and written info into a place mark. SO...the tours are done and work fine on computers in our Center where the files are served. BUT we want to be able to post links on our website so others can view the tours. The 'kmz' files are downloaded to my web editor but the links don't work. I know you have to have Google Earth downloaded to view the file, that's not the problem. Any ideas how to package a kmz overlay to get it to work off of a link?

You can see these types of tours and kmz files at work at Google Lit Trips

Hi This is Jerome Burg from Google Lit Trips. I'm sure I can help you out, but I'm not really clear on what you're trying to do.

I'm not sure what you mean by "get it to work off of a link." The files need to be downloaded and then opened in Google Earth. I don't believe there is a way to create a link on your website that will "play" a tour because Google Earth is not built into browsers.

What I do is save Lit Trips as .kmz files and then I simply post those files for people to download on the GoogleLitTrip site.

What we would like to do it have links to the kmz files that need to be downloaded but here's what we get. See bottom of page. BTW my co-teacher Courtney is the one working with you to upload her Invention of Hugo Cabret littrip. Small world! N.
