Hello All! I am currently working on my master's degree and am very interested in hearing some of your thoughts and feedback about "High Stakes Testing." How does it affect your teaching in the classroom or in your school? Also, please feel free to share any stories. Thanks!

I subscribe to EDDRA (a yahoo mailing list). In the past few days, a post from Jerry Bracey could be included in your coments. He said that in a study buried by the Dept of Ed under Spellings, it was shown that a substantial number of students who exit high schools at the BASIC level in math on NAEP earn bachelor degrees. A smaller percentage of those who exit below basic earn bachelor degrees and associate degrees.

The question then is whether the basic level is really as bad as the "experts" are telling us. If you cannot find the post on Yahoo EDDRA, let me know and, if I still have it in my mailbox, I'll get it to you. It's a real eye-opener!
