Moodle? Can Chat forum be Synchronous?

We just installed Moodle. One of our teachers wants a "real time" chat to help blind students learn key commands for excel. Can the chat forum be used in real time or only asynchronous?

Thanks, Mark ... a colleague just got that from Wiziq .... tho I have no idea what WiziQ is ... but, there seems to be a wealth of information available. It's like an explosion of capabilties springing up like spring flowers!

Thanks, Mark! I took a look - and WOW!

I've been congratulating myself in my retirement years as being very 21st century, and in the past two days between Tammy's possibilities in moodle, and what I've seen in WizIQ, I've really been sitting on my laurels and not noticing the explosion of 21st century right at the end of my nose. I need to get myself into ketchup mode, and quick! Or I'll be left sitting in the rocking chair like all old grandmas!
