How is it so far? I am a big fan of Card's work. I am currently listening to Ender's Game. I read it when it first came out but I am enjoying the audiobook.

With kids in the last few month's 4th grade The Adventures of Hugo Cabret and The Mysterious Benedict Society, 5th The Mysterious Benedict Society's Perilous Journey, and with 5th and 6th a dozen sci-fi short stories.
You and I will never be reading the same thing!! Do you discuss what you are reading with your wife? I don't think so. :)
How would you find an introduction to "real" computer programming for kids? Back in the day we used QBasic with 5th and 6th graders who wanted an intro to programming. Where would I start today? Remember that I plan to be ABSOLUTELY NO HELP to the students.
