Our school doesn't have a streaming server. We often create our own video for instructional purposes and I've been using free streaming storage space. i was using google video to upload it, make it private and then embed the video in our course managment system. I can do it with youtube but I have to have each user create an account and then they have to log in to youtube before logging into blackboard. A little convuluted for our faculty and students. I've been looking into setting up a subscription for a teachertube MySite. I want the video to be private but want to embed it in BB? Any suggestions?

do you have to sign up for an account to download this?

Is it opensource? It is built on opensource tools: ffmpeg, php, but does not appear to be opensource itself?
Can I build my own phpmotion server?
I have been using blip.tv. I post the videos there and then embedd them in blog postings or wikis. It has worked well so far. I have not explored blip a lot. I am not sure if there are storage restrictions. I am interested in any feedback you get on this topic as well.
I also use blip.tv It's great. But, you need a Pro account ($8/mo) to make videos private.
Helpful responses. We are facing the same dilemma and appreciate the responses. I hope more members weigh in.
Use Vimeo. You can store your videos (up to 500MB upload for free per week), can mark the videos not only private, but also password protected, and then embed into Blackboard. They retain video quality and don't destroy it like YouTube does. We love using it here at the college where I work. Faculty love that they can add a password to the video in the event they really don't want anyone to find it, share it outside of class, etc. [I cross posted this in the College 2.0 ning site as well since you asked there also.]
