Webpages

Hello. I´m a student at the University of Iceland. I´m trying to find webpages that include information for children in preschool to K 1-4. My goal is to make a webpage that welcomes kids to the school for the first time.

I´m looking for webpages that welcomes childrens in school. Webpages that is specialy made for them, f.ex. pictures that shows them where the classroom is and where the cafeteria is and others pictures from the school building. Pictures of the teachers and so on. Those informations would help children to take the first step in school. I hope you know what I mean and you understand my english spelling.

You may have to generate this information yourself. You can use Google Sites (http://sites.google.com) to create a home web page that parents and students can access online. You can create different pages for different teachers; they can either create a biography page with their picture or use that page as their classroom news page. If you would like to provide students with a virtual tour of the school, I would suggest taking digital pictures and uploading them to a site like Mapwing (http://www.mapwing.com/). Mapwing is a free website that allows you to turn your pictures into virtual tours and interactive maps. You can embed the tour into your Google Site. Hope this gives you something to work with! FYI, Another alternative to Google Sites is Weebly for Education. (http://education.weebly.com/) This blog post (http://onceateacher.wordpress.com/2009/02/03/using-weebly-to-build-...), by Kate Klingensmith, talks more about using Weebly, and she provides some examples of other teacher websites who have used Weebly as their platform.
