Beyond Google Searching-I am creating a flow chart for our teachers on where to locate good quality resources that support their units of study.  Where do you begin looking? For example, I always start with eThemes.  What other clearinghouses etc. do you use that have already collected web resources identified by subject or grade level?

Hi Michelle,

My classmates and I are in our final semester of elementary education. We feel the same way you do in regards to finding quality resources so we are creating a K-5 resource page. There are additional themes such as Special Education, etc. Free feel to go to this site to find resources, although it is still under development so it may look very bare for now. You can also add resources as well, click here to view the page.

Sometimes I begin looking at delicious.com. People tag some really interesting resources. Try that.

Does this help?
I used to use Thinkfinity a lot -- it's changed a bit, but it still looks pretty useful. (You can search by subject, resource and grade level in the block on the right of the home page.)

For math in grades K-12, Illuminations is AWESOME, specifically their activities -- you can search by grade level and by keyword.

If you're looking for technolgy integration tools, Go2Web2.0 lists every Web 2.0 tool out there. It's a bit overwhelming, but you can browse by category, which helps.
Katy, I really love Thinkfinity and Go2Web2.0 - great resources, thanks!
If you have ELLs, my two fellow ELD teachers and I put together a website dedicated to helping not only ELD teachers, but also mainstream teachers of ELLs. Our state teachers union highlighted it in their opening issue this school year.

I would add to the sites on my webpage www.readwritethink.org which I just finished doing a presentation on at CABE (California Association of Bilingual Educators www.bilingualeducation.org). Teachers LOVED the site (created by the National Council of Teachers of English and the International Reading Association). One principal is working on having me present to his teachers in New Mexico this summer!
