Podcast Experiment

Greetings everyone!

I was wondering how many of you would be willing to participate in a podcast experiment that I was contemplating?

What I was thinking of doing was getting a group of my "friends" out here in blog land, having a Skype discussion. The topic of the conversation will be:

"Education Technology Use From Where I Am."

The purpose is to kind of give listeners an idea of what types of Ed Tech are used in different areas of the country/world.

I also thought that it would be cool if anyone who participated in the call could also record it, then at the end put their own thoughts and post on their site. That way, lots of people looking at the same session could then personalize it.

This will be a Skype Audio Cast which will be recorded and then posted on my Byte Speed website.

The experiment will take place:

Friday September 7, 2007
3:00 PM Mountain Daylight Time (UTC-6) to 4:00 PM

(I know that there is no real "best time" for these type of things. Most of you will be in other time zones.)

Prior to that, I will need your Skype name so I can add you to the list.

Anyone game for it?

I hope so. If it works, we can do some amazing discussions that we all can all post as podcasts and then add our own spin. I know a lot of people are looking for podcast material, and this would be a cool way to make a lot of podcast and then personalize.

I know that many of you have been involved with stuff like this before, but it is a first for me, as I add to my list of tricks that I can do in the web 2.0 world.

HI Tim,

I am game for it, just happened to be checking in to the site... and read your post. Its a Friday 'Night' at that time over here,.. so,.. on the basis that I actually do not have a Friday night to go out to.. I will power up my skype and join in. It would be very interesting to do so. My skype name.. srtangefish .. as you see it typed there. I am also looking at podcasts myself and have started to produce a serices on using e-learning technology in the classroom. Delivering a small podcasting workshop at the HandHeld Learning Conference here in the UK http://www.handheldlearning2007.com

So,.. be very interested to glean any news on podcasting ideas and developments.

Right.. wheres my bed.
Oh yes, glad to see I am not the only one who didnt know what UTC is... had to Google that. GMT- 6, I think.

Hi Tim
These time zones are definitely confusing, (actually anything that involves numbers confuses me) am adding a screen print of a time zone clock (one of many) that I found through google.

I'm now trying to work out what time I should try to link up to the conversation
Can anyone help?

Susan, We are GMT-6 hours
So, if it is 3:00AM GMT on Friday, we are at 9:00 PM Thursday night..

So, if I get this right, you are GMT + 3 hours...

So, you are 9 hours ahead of me...

3:00 PM Friday MDT will be ...12:00 AM Your time...
I hope you can stay up!

Tim

Tim, thanks for organising the session and running it so professionally. Looking forward to more of the same.
Tim--I lost my copy that I recorded. Would you be able to send me an mp3 version and I'll podcast on it.

Thanks!
