I saw Joel's EU Voice Thread about the multilingual lending library. The VT seems to have been created on Animoto. So I tried to link to a 30-second Animoto clip in my free Animoto account, using the Upload URL option in VT, but kept getting an error message. Any suggestions?
I tried it quick and got the same error message that sent me here: http://voicethread.com/help/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=554
I don't believe VT was created "on Animoto" at all, two separate websites. You probably would have to pay to export the Animoto file as a flash file or another acceptable format from that link. Wait, if you have a free educator account, can't you export some of them? That's my best guess. For the year long Animoto Educator account you can go here and apply (if you haven't already): http://animoto.com/education
Maybe export it to a YouTube Channel, then bring it in?
A friend asked me the same question a while back. Unfortunately, VoiceThread doesn't accept html as input. I was able to move from Animoto to VoiceThead, though. I went to the share options in Animoto, and converted the movie into an mp4. Then, I was able to upload the mp4 file into the VoiceThread. Here is an example of a short film I had made with a few sample avatars from my class: http://voicethread.com/share/1076358/.
Jane,
Thanks for your reply. I'm working on your suggestion. I don't see the option of converting to mp4 under share. Perhaps that's bc I only have the free subscription. I was able to embed the Animoto video on FB and was also able to upload it to YouTube. Now I'm working on trying to convert the YouTube video to an acceptable format for Animoto. I'll let you know how it goes.
