Looking to start off the School Year with a little 'bragging' about your school?  Here's a way to engage your kids and build a little school pride.  Hoping to get schools from around the world to participate in a basic Voicethread project to "Show Off Your School".  Like we did last year at the end of the year.  You can see all of the VT's here.
Let your students take pictures of different areas around your school, upload then have them comment.  However, you'd like it to work.  Then, when your finished you can get the embed code and put it into our wiki to share with others. *I would help with this part if it's confusing*
Hoping to get everyone's in by October 14th and to have a Final Celebration on Fri. Oct. 15th!
Let me know if this sounds interesting to you:  Mark_Carls@caboces.org
You can join the wiki now if you'd like:  http://tinyurl.com/ElemVT   OR, like I said, just wait, and when you have a Voicethread ready, I'll put it up for you.
Feel free to browse last years examples and if you have a free Voicethread account, you can even leave comments to other schools!  If you don't have a free Educator Pro account, you can register for one here:  http://tinyurl.com/VTEdRegister
Good luck, and let me know if I can help in any way.

Have an excellent start to your school year.

I also saw Global Education project posted to help connect classrooms:

I'm hoping to help our districts connect and collaborate with others through our project or this one from Julie Lindsay,Vicki Davis, Lucy Gray and Steve Hargadon. Global Ed Conference site here: http://www.globaleducationconference.com/

Good luck everyone.

Thank you for putting all of these up. A great motivator for the beginning of the year.
Yes, and we did get our first put up by 2nd grade class in New Zealand: http://elementaryvoicethreads.wikispaces.com/2nd+Grade
She's hoping others send her pictures of their community and they'll make a big Voicethread of all the areas! Thanks Mrs. McKenzie.
This year will be my first time using VoiceThread with my class. Do I have to pay for an educator account? When I tried to register for the free account, it sent me back to the page with the purchasing plans.

Thank you
No need to pay. You may see the paid plan, but if I remember right the one on the left (I believe) is the VT Educator and down at the bottom, if you click on that you can go in and get the free VT Educator account. Let me know if it doesn't work.

This is the page I keep ending up on: http://voicethread.com/products/k12/educator/
And this is the email they just sent me. It says I get 50 free, then have to pay after that. Is that what you mean by the free account?

Yes, that's what you get for VT Educator. If you do go over 50, then I guess you would have to pay, but that's quite a bit for free.
Otherwise, the Class subscription is $60/year to go above that, then you get a URL for your students and an enclosed site for them to work.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

Mark
Okay, now I know what you mean. I will start with the free account and see if I need to move up later in the year. Thanks!
