UJAM is an online, browser based music creation service. It is very similar to Microsoft's SongSmith Academic or the iPhone App Song Maker.
With UJAM, you can simply sing a song or hum a melody, then UJAM will recognize the notes in your song/melody and create a full music accompaniment for it. I sat down, sang one verse of a song I wrote about Bullies, and a few clicks later had my own little masterpiece.
These songs could be used for podcasts, presentations, classroom songs, standardized test songs to get your school hyped up, teaching music notes (since you can edit and change each individual note in your song), and much more.
There are dozens of different musical styles and genres mimicking many of todays popular artists and styles. You can even edit each individual song after it is created. Check out my blog post for more information about UJAM!

I hadn't heard of UJAM before. It's pretty awesome, especially when you need students to create soundtracks for videos or podcasts quickly. Thanks for sharing!

David,
Awesome find! I am currently teaching a Web 2.0 class in which we are using Audacity to make mashups of various songs that the student chose. I am always looking for new things to share with them. This will be awesome!

We need to try to work together in the future sometime. I teach a 6th Grade Computer & Technology Integration Class and I do a lot of different music extensions to my project. My favorite is when we create and record original Rap Songs about various school related topics.
Your project sounds really cool and a great example of teaching that sticks!!!
