Is anyone else using Delicious?  It is an online bookmarking site, which means that wherever you have access to the Internet, you can get your saved bookmarks.

When you save a bookmark you tag it with words that describe it, then you can search for your bookmark by tags.  You can see what others are tagging and even just see what the most recent or most popular bookmarks have been.

The other cool things about Delicious are that you can add people to your network.  For example, my user name is pendinger, so if you search for pendinger you can see my bookmarks, and if you add me because you have similar interests, you will be able to see what new bookmarks I add.  You have a choice of viewing all recent bookmarks, your network's bookmarks, or just your own.  I catch myself looking to see what the most popular bookmarks of the day are when I have a few spare minutes.

I use Delicious often times as a search engine too.  If you type in a query, you will see all of the public bookmarks that have been tagged with that.  It narrows a search down a ton!

When I save a bookmark, there is a little box off to the side that tells me how many other people have saved that bookmark in Delicious.  If I click on that number, it will show me those users and I can see what else they have bookmarked in the same category.

Anyway, if you want to share your user name for Delicious here, then we can all check out what great resources we find on the Internet.  I think it would help a lot of us find useful sites quicker and easier.

Penny, I've used delicious for a few months and I love it! I post my top bookmarks in various tags on my class wiki and encourage students to surf the web to get helpful tips. Several of my colleagues in my district also use the site and we have a "neighborhood" on delicious! I'm yssacrekab on delicious.
I have been using Delicious for about 6 months now and I LOVE IT!!!! I teach DP Economics and MYP Humanities. My username is: Lippielouis. Feel free to add me and share resources. I am open to any and all suggestions that could help my econ and humanities students. What is the difference between Delicious and diigo? I want to know since most folks here seem more keen on diigo.

For a discussion I had somewhere else, I put down my tagging strategies, so I made a copy at my blog in here... hope it helps someone.

(BTW, I am still very sad on delicious probably closing, speciall 'cause my key for "a healthy tagging" is in bundling and gorgeous diigo doesn't have anything similar).

I had heard that delicious may be closing but that was almost a year ago. Has there been anymore information about the possible shut down of the site?

not a year ago, just 3 months ago

but still, no more news

thanks for the info. I haven't tried any other bookmarking tools but maybe I should start looking.
I really love using Delicious because I always have access to my bookmarks no matter what computer I"m using. I'm kradhe on Delicious!

I have just discovered Delicious and look forward to using it as I build an index of resources for teaching. The ability to categorize by tagging will be so helpful in organizing my depository of informative websites. My tags will include such topics as social studies lessons, language arts lessons, classroom management, authentic assessment, and technology. The advantage of having the research of others added to mine is invaluable. I hope that my students will find this tool useful in their own research projects. Not only will they be able to organize their own information, but they will also have the opportunity to see the advantage of social media as a learning tool. I plan to have students create an account at the beginning of the year so that they can build their arsenal of information throughout the year. We will revisit the topic at year’s end to observe their accumulation of bookmarks and determine how to adjust their use of the tool. Has anyone used social bookmarking with their students?

I like that idea.  I have students create a bibme account and save their bookmarks there to print and share, but Delicious would make more sense.  Thanks!
