What do you do if students do not complete their homework on time, or if a student never completes his/her homework assignments?  When should you contact the parents and make them aware of the situation?

I think that it is important to pull the student aside and get them to understand the impact of what not doing their work can do. Ask questions, maybe there is an underlying factor as to why the student is not completing his or her work. Offer extra assistance, and tell the student that their work is valuable to the class and also teaching you as to how you can help make the learning environment better.

I am also finishing up college and will be student teaching this fall.  I am working in a 4th grade class right now where there is a huge problem with students not turning in their assignments and projects.  Unfortunately, the teacher never seems to do much about it!  She will write the students’ names on the board that did not turn in their homework and then threaten to take away recess.  However, she never follows through with it.  I think the most important thing to do in situations like these is to follow through with appropriate punishments so that students learn their lessons.

Have you ever heard of a homework grid? Google it and see if that would help. There is a great article on the topic but I can't find it for you. Hope that helps.

What is the purpose of the homework first?  Children need to realize the purpose of homework in order for them to even want to di it.

Second, is the piece of homework engaging or interesting?  If they see value in it or want to do it, then the chances of it getting done are much higher.

First and foremost this is one of those assignments that has no place being homework. If the teacher really thinks this assignment has value it should be done in class with proper scaffolding and guidance. As an educator the most important part of a project like this should be the process and helping the student define what is important about this person and Do My Accounting Homework. The conversations with the student during the process are essential to understanding for both teacher and student. So to me when a teacher assigns something like this https://web.stanford.edu/class/math51/homework.html they don't really understand the value of the process or the activity itself. How do you grade this assignment? Half the class will have had mommy complete it the other half will have daddy do it and the rest will be left on their own. In the end the product has no value because who knows who did what. So as a 20 year educator, who is decidedly a.

We should identified that in which subject a particular student has interest. According to his/her interest, a student should get the assignment for their homework. This will help a teacher in understanding the qualities of their student. And students will be able in finding a good career according to their qualities.

Oftentimes, I hear students complaining that homework has no value.  As a teacher, I love to give my students engaging assignments for homework.  If it's fun, they will do it.  For instance, I will give them a FREE assignment on Edcite to be completed at home.  I will choose or create an assignment with animation and videos to make it an interactive experience.  I usually have 100% success when I use engaging activities for homework.

I need help with my homework on math, maybe someone can help me?

For sure they need help with homework, so, first of all, discuss the issue with students, propose your help or any other options. If it doesn't help - contact parents then.
