Here is a simple little way to keep children writing when not in school. Have them blog about things they love: Legos, Barbies, online games sites or art. Check out what an 8 year can do on a chromebook her blog --www.chloescreativestudio.blogspot. Check it out & pass it on!

A friend of mine uses EDMODO.  She actually started using it initially as an avenue for discussion on a book they are reading in their reading group.  Now she said it is used in multiple ways.  My son uses it in middle school as well--Reading class.

Wow, what a great way to use EDMODO.  Thank you for that idea.

Great idea!  Our 5th graders are blogging and really enjoying writing about their own hobbies and experiences.

Brad, I think it is extremely important to have our students continue writing over the summer.  Of course, if we make an assignment, they most likely will not enjoy the writing.  I think a great idea would be having the students blog about a vacation, or special trip they take in the summer.  They could include words and pictures to describe what they did and saw.  This would be motivating and educational.

Great idea! What a great way to use Edmodo. Thanks for sharing with us....
