Video Conferencing hardware / software

Hello all,

Our school is wanting to make use of video conferences from Environment Canada to examine the issue of the climate change. We would also like to make use of this equipment to connect and share ideas with other schools across the world and with experts in the field that students may be studying. We would like to experiment with global learning, but obviously need the appropriate technology to do so. We used Skype but with large group discussions it can be limiting.

If anyone is aware of any video conferencing equipment that is relatively inexpensive, could you please reply.

We use www.dimdim.com, www.tokbox.com. DimDim is very robust! You might look at downloading the new skype too it offers screen sharing so students can display their digital work

Check RHUB web conferencing appliance (http://rhubcom.com/). It is a hardware-based solution for real-time collaboration. It is the most cost-effective solution I could think of. There is no recurring monthly fee. Just one-time payment and you could make use of their float licensing to host unlimited video conferencing.

Hi Rita. We use video conferencing for my grad class using fuzemeeting. It allows the participants to video conference and also chat using text. You can share screens, and there is a whiteboard feature. It is kind of like a classroom. Good luck!
