Has anyone used their iPhone in the classroom? Recently, I have read a number of articles that make me think I should start using my iPhone.  I just learned about a new app called Whiteboard. It is an app that lets student collaborate as they draw. It sounds like a great interactive app that could allow students to express their ideas in new ways. Have any of you tried using iPhone tools or apps?

There is an AR app, that allows you to look up books and determine the details of the book including the AR reading level. This has helped some of my co-teachers organize their libraries. You can even get a scanner to scan the books directly and have the information instantly.

I recently used a great animation app called I Can Animate. The app allows students to make their own stop motion animations. It is an easy to use apps and we have had 5 year olds putting together very creative animations. However, In order to get the best results it is important to keep your iphone still when taking pictures. I would suggest getting an iphone tripod of some description. I wrote a post last summer about iphone apps to keep kids occupied during the long months off. They can all be used in the classroom. Have fun.

I have recently used my iPhone to implement an iBook in my classroom. My students loved it! I was surprised at how familiar with the phone my students were. For the most part they all said their parents had a similar phone, and they used theirs on  a regular basis to play games or use the various apps. Although they did not use my phone, I think it would be a great tool to utilize in my classroom. I have used an app called "Who Can Read?" by Pioneer Valley Educational Press. We have their books in our leveled library, and was excited to see their app which has leveled books available for children to use and read.

I have a co-worker who has downloaded an app to link his iphone and smartboard. He uses the iphone as a remote almost, he can type onto the smartboard, use the phone as a clicker etc.

Sounds interesting.  If you know the name of the app (or can find out) could you post it here please. Thanks!

This year in my school The American School of Dubai, my colleague and I integrated over 80 Ipod touches in K-5 classroom settings to support and enhance the curriculum and enhance student learning.  They were amazing to use within language, P.E., Music, and even Art classrooms as well.  We used a variety of apps and did a lot with QR codes with students, but also used the camera, video, and recording features on the phone as well.  My colleague and I put together a brief presentation which we presented at a ISTE Conference hosted by GETEX in Dubai, UAE.  Attached is the presentation or here is the link
