Looking for ideas, suggestions, thoughts, etc. on Middle school computer labs. If you have all the money in the world how would you design your lab? Would you even build a lab or go mobile or distrube lab computers to classrooms? Our goal is the build a technology program that empowers and enables teachers to incorperate technology into the lessons/unit/work they do.
If you have enough money build two or three state of the art labs with built in smart boards and ceiling mounted LCD projector. Mobile labs are a nice option but, you have to consider the size of you campus because rolling them around is not that easy. You don't have to worry about rolling the around if you get one for each classroom, but that will be a lot laptops to maintain. I think students enjoy a change of scenery and it is more beneficial if a teacher takes their classes to a computer lab for a technology based lesson a couple of times a month rather than using laptops in their classroom.
Thank you for the ideas and I would love more. I like the idea of notebooks/chromebooks and the mobile lab idea as we have a small campus. Other ideas/thoughts on media lab (greenscreen, digital cameras, etc.) science probs and other tools/peripherals?
