Hi Stephanie, I am a first grade teacher from New Concord Ohio. I am also a graduate student doing a paper on national education standards. I am wondering if you could help me and give me your thoughts.
With the addition of the Common Core standards, most states will be working toward students obtaining the same set of skills. As a teacher I find when a student moves into the classroom from a different district, because our curriculum maps do not match, I may have already covered a topic he/she has not yet been taught or vise-versa. I'm wondering your thoughts on having a standard curriculum map to accompany the Common Core standards so that students moving from state to state and school to school would have an easier transition.
I also feel like having a common curriculum map would promote collaboration between school districts and teachers across the nation.
