This. Is. AWESOME!!!  I've been wanting to do Twitter for my bands and such and this is such a great resource!!!  It seems like you did the hard part for me! :)  How have your kids responded to using Twitter?  Did you have to ask permission from administration?   Are parents involved?   I'm really excited to take the time this summer and explore it more.  Thanks!

My kids love it.  They love when I post questions on it and whoever answers first gets candy.  I didn't ask for permission, but I haven't had any complaints.  There are three other teachers in my school who actively use it too.  I have two parent followers, hopefully I'll get more next year.  I really use it just as a tool to interact with my students.  I definitely recommend it!

I just saw the rest of this thread (on page 2) that you do use it with students.  Do they use it on computers, or do they all have some type of smartPhone/tablet they can use in the class room?

Juliana- thank you for the cheat sheets for Twitter.  I think Twitter has plenty of cool potentialities in education.  You r lesson will be very easy for all to follow and everyone who would be there should be very capable of using Twitter by the end of the single session.  Have you successfully used Twitter in your own classroom with students yet?  If so, how?

Juliana,

Great cheat sheet resources! I recently provided a workshop to the PE teachers in my district on iPad/technology integration in the gym. I briefly covered everything from iPads to flipped classrooms to Google Docs to Edmodo to Twitter, etc. My supervisor, who set up the workshop for me, now wants me to create individual workshops on all of the topics I covered. So these cheat sheet handouts will be great for when I do my Social Media workshop!

The Professional Development that I have created is on Educreations. Teachers and educators can learn how to record lessons using Educreations and use it as a "flipped classroom" activity. I developed a slide show tutorial in Notebook on how to create an account and how to use  Educreations. I feel that this is useful tool to use for the "flipped classroom" method of teaching. I have attached two sample Educreations activities in the lesson plan.

David,

This would be a great presenation! I also love using Educreations when creating lessons. It is such a great tool to have and I think many teachers don't even realize it exists. Educreations can be used in all grades, in any subject and not a lot of people know that! Your presentation looks great and would be a great useful tool to keep if I had any questions. Good job!

The Professional Development presentation I chose was to explain how Facebook can be used in the classroom, not just as a social media site. I created a handout for all of the teachers and also created a powerpoint with the same information. During the presentation, I would read off of the powerpoint, and my peers could use the handout to keep. The training would only last about 30 minutes, depending on questions. I have attached the handout and the presentation I would show.

Kristin,

What a thorough presentation!!!  I loved how you connected it to education and how you can make it useful for parents and students.  I've been thinking about creating a facebook page with for my bands and what a great resource to use 'events' to get info out about field trips and concerts!  I send emails and notes home, as well as post it to the school's website, but I still get those parents that have no idea when the concerts are.  This may be a great way to reach them!  Thanks!

For Professional Development, I would tell my colleagues about MightyBell.  There are so many uses for it, and I have found the kids and parents can navigate it pretty easily.  I have a powerpoint presentation to share with the team, a take home hand out and a lesson plan.

Jennifer - what a great plan!  I really liked your lesson and found the handout super helpful.  Thanks for bringing this website to my attention.  Looks like it can really benefit my classroom!

My professional development lesson is about Pinterest. I created a lesson plan about how to create a Pinterest Account, and Pin Boards. The lesson plan also walk the student through how to pin with relevant tips to consider to have success on Pinterest. The handout that would be used through the lesson is attached. In addition to the hand out, I would also show a few videos and examples of Pinterest users that are using Pinterest successfully.
