Failure is always viewed as a negative experience. However this is not always true. Failure is a time where students can learn problem solving skills. These skills may not be as developed if the student is used to immediate success upon attempting the task at hand. Failure is also a "teachable moment." It is a chance for the teacher to step in and walk the student through what he or she did wrong and how to do it correctly. These days failure is viewed as a bad thing. I encourage people to start seeing failure as an opportunity for growth as opposed to growth being stunted.

I agree, failure is not always a bad thing. I look at failure as the first step to finding the correct answer and discovering new things. This day in age, we fear the unknown and are terrfied of being wrong, but why? Why as teachers, students, and even humans do we so drastically fear being wrong? As teacher we need to break this stereotype and educate our students the failure is the first step to success.
