Failure is always viewed as a negative experience. However this is not always true. Failure is a time where students can learn problem solving skills. These skills may not be as developed if the student is used to immediate success upon attempting the task at hand. Failure is also a "teachable moment." It is a chance for the teacher to step in and walk the student through what he or she did wrong and how to do it correctly. These days failure is viewed as a bad thing. I encourage people to start seeing failure as an opportunity for growth as opposed to growth being stunted.

I agree, failure is a huge teaching opportunity. When a student has a hard time understanding something, and you explain it further so they can understand the topic. I love seeing their faces, when their light bulb turned on in their head. I also believe at that moment the student gains more confidence, believeing they can accomplish anything if they put their mind to it.
