This is how I teach. I integrate each content area into significant projects that are rooted in collaborative learning partnerships. These partnerships are both local and global. These partnerships are both horizontal and vertical. Horizontally, I connect my students with other children of similar age but differing cultures. Vertically, I connect them with younger students they can teach and with older children who can teach them.
I also believe the adage that it takes a village to raise a child. For that reason, I bring experts to my classroom who have life experience in topics we are discussing. I form partnerships with the Education Department of a local university. Students in methods classes such as Computer Applications, Methods of Teaching, Music, Science, Math, etc., are required to develop and teach lessons that meet the goals of my classroom.

Your projects will certainly continue to serve as inspiration. I just love what technology has been able to do, not only for student learning but for energizing my own teaching. Here's another thought. Each year I do an "average student" math and geography study integrated all year - we do attendance graphs most days, compiling the results, discussing statistics (mean, median, etc.), percentages, and we talk about whether we are a good sample or not. Sometimes I try to increase the numbers by adding other classes at our school, but I often ask whether or not the results might be the same in other places. Every year I intend to work with students in other states and countries but don't get my feet in the water soon enough. Would that be something you are interested in? Basically, we'd have a poll on our web site (or participating classes set up polls) and results are tallied. Sometimes I have "most Americans" stats to compare with. It might be fun to see how results differ in parts of the country. The questions (kids often make them up, too) range from how students like to eat Oreos to favorite genres to more awareness questions of world events...
