About Me
I taught English for 24 years before becoming the instructional technology coordinator at Downers Grove South High School in Illinois. In the classroom, I always tried to promote best technology approaches to ensure student learning. Currently, my focus of research is in the area of Collaborative Technology, specifically, embedding structured Cooperative Learning pedagogy into teaching with Web 2.0 tools to improve student learning. Away from school, I savor the "Four F's": Family, Football, Fishing, and Food!

My Fave new tool:

Have you tried Wordle? it creates a tag cloud for any group of text or eve a web page. (Thanks, Meg!)

Imagine the possibilities...

Thanks, Jon. Read -the creative educator article- and enjoyed reading it. I hope it will inspire our teachers towards taking steps in this direction as well.

Hi Jon!

Hope you're enjoying the winter break. I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from Illinois.

You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!

Wordle eh? I'll have to try that tool if you recommend it. I'll throw twitter your way. You can find me at http://twitter.com/mikeromard

I saw your post on Digital Storytelling. I have experience with Voicethread, iMovie and Photostory. I'm interested in what suggestions you have for sharing it as a technology coach in a district. My experience currently resides with conference presentations and staff meetings with it. You can leave me a private message here or leave some ideas in the Digital Storytelling section. Cheers!

Thanks Jon. I will be in the San Francisco area in February and will check it out online first to see if something will be happening when I'm there. Cheers, Bryan
