Hi Megan. I was wondering if any of your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some other educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
We're in the SE portion of Kansas...Pittsburg to be exact. Our service center is actually a bit west of us in Girard, KS. Your program sounds really great...I'll be sure to direct some of our TRC teachers to it (Technology Rich Classrooms) and see if this is something they could apply. Thanks for the heads up. Hope to network more on this subject in the future.
When it comes to getting veteran teachers to use technology it sometimes can be very challenging. This is where our (Generation YES) philosophy has proven success. The program involves partnering up a GenYES student with a teacher in the school (many times a reluctant veteran teacher). The "partner teacher" and GenYES student together develop a lesson plan involving technology. In this situation the teacher is not expected to be the expert with technology and allows the student to show teachers how to use the technology in an effective way.
We have many GenYES schools in Kansas. Where in Kansas are you located?
Your job sounds very interesting. We try to integrate technology with teachers and students as well...our challenge comes with the veteran teachers. Would be interested in understanding how to overcome this challenge.
