I teach at Glenelg School (Adelaide, South Australia) with a passion for professional learning, computer games in education and exploring the role of emerging technologies in education. My focus is catering to busy teachers with time commitments, crowded curricula and often elusive lives of their own. My class, the miniLegends are Year 3 students - 8 and 9 year olds. I'm also a District eTeacher with the Learning Technologies Group - previously the Technology School of the Future. Lately I've been away from the global social networking 'scene' - I've been busy creating the scaffolding so all preschools (kindergartens) in South Australia have their own blog, . The SA Preschools Blogging Network can be found at http://hayki.edublogs.org/ Any and all feedback is welcome :)

Thanks everyone ... interesting that in one of my few comments here at the start I say "Twitter good value?" Now I think it's excellent and I've certainly been offered a lot of support through it. More generally it allows wonderful social and learning networks. So feel free to add me in there, you can also direct message me there http://twitter.com/alupton My email is in the about text in the sidebar of my blog if there is anything specific you can't find on the front page http://alupton.edublogs.org/
Thanks also Allon I seek out free and open software ... YouFig.com looks like it is "free private collaboration community during our private beta" after that who knows? Cheers, Al
Just heard you on Elluminate about your blog. Hang in there. It was great to hear you and exciting to bring you 'live' into my house. Technology is awesome! I just wish more people would get on board and not be so afraid of it.

Al - have you heard of YouFig.com? It's a useful site for collaboration between students and between teacher & class. I still have a few invites left. Let me know if you'd like one.
Hi Al, I'm not very active on Classrooms 2.0 at the moment but I'm hoping to get more involved this term. Looking forward to exploring your blog - we seem to have a lot of interests and friends in common! I see John's been here too :-)

Hi Al,
One of your bloggers Kyle left a great comment on one of our blogs, asking for our primary 3s to blog quote:
your sandaig otter cubs is too hard to comment on but we really want to connect with some otter year threes Please pass the msg on from Kyle and the miniLegends.
end quote.
I am glad to be able to tell you that I have a blog set up and waiting for our primary 3s.
I've left a wee comment to let Kyle know:

Hopefully the primary 3s will be looking at your mini guys blogs in the next couple of weeks.
