I'm a teacher teaching English to junior high and high school students in Tokyo. I'm really interested in innovating current teaching approaches and think one way to do that is using technology more in the classroom. I'm open to any discussion and would like to share ideas and opinions with you.

EduQuiki is a wiki I set up for collaborating with other educators as well as to provide an online space for the learners I teach face to face. I teach pre-service English language teachers in Mexico and am teaching two academic writing classes and an applied linguistics class this semester. One of the academic writing classes is for first year students who are taking a propedeutic (PROPE) year which also includes classes in reading, listening, and speaking (in English) - most of my students in my PROPE writing class are high A1/low A2 according to the Common European Framework. I'm using Eduquiki this semester in my PROPE writing class so that my learners have the opportunity to publish their work openly and to eventually collaborate with other language learning writers.
I'm interested in knowing more about what you are doing with your writing group and if you think there might be a possibility in doing some form of writing exchange.
I think your ideas are perfect. Perhaps we can sketch out a calendar of when we would like to get things done. I will try to recruit some 8th graders so the age gap is closer. I can get this group assembled within a week or so and perhaps we can exchange student names and begin our intro video. While we work on the video perhaps we can create a little package to send each other with certain items. From there we can tackle the other ideas you listed. How does that sound?
Marie and others I am doing global collaboration with a number of schools and organizations. I just retired as a teacher but have set up my own global collaboration series of projects and groups....I would love to talk to you and others about working on possible projects
Hi Marie, how are you? I see that you are looking to collaborate with someone outside of Japan. I am a former social studies teacher who is now the tech coordinator for my school. I will be teaching a multi-media class with 8th graders (13-14 year olds) and would love to set up a collaborative project.
We start school on September 5th. Let's try to catch up before them. My contact info is mannixlab [at] gmail.com and @mannixlab
